The Grade 10 and Grade 12 examinations are very important in India. These two exams are usually conducted by an external examination body that is different than the school. The student performance in these two examinations is vital for seeking admission to a University program in India. In India, this schooling system is commonly referred to as “10+2” (Ten Plus Two) schooling system.

Advantages:
Youth behavior changes drastically at about 16 years of age. By separating the schools for less–than 16–year olds from the 16+ year olds in 11 th and 12 th grade, the less–than 16–year olds get a better chance to stay away from the influence of the 16+ youth.
